Update on Google

Google is currently on a 3-week supply of steroids; the first week of that he was also on antibiotics, since those steroids depress the immune system. Shortly after the antibiotics ran out, he started sneezing up a storm. We became concerned (if bemused that at least he wasn't coughing any more). The nice vet lady called us yesterday to ask how Google was doing, and ("hey, glad you asked...") G (the other one) chatted with her about the new symptoms. There's some possibility with this now multi-month ordeal that Google started off with pneumonia, then had some scarring because of it, followed by a bacterial infection, which then became (possibly cause-effect?) a viral infection, which is where he'd be at now.

So Google's back on antibiotics again, while continuing his steroid treatment. Poor guy. This morning he was sneezing so much that he actually didn't want to be around his people, which was a bit of a first for our sociable little guy. He was feeling a bit better this morning; he was curled up on a cat tree in the sun, and when I came over to swap out his worn-out collar with one in better shape, he blinked contentedly at me, purred a bit, and didn't even bother to lift his head.

He had gained a pound when we last took him to the vet for x-rays, which is great news. I figure a cat of his frame size should weigh at least eight pounds in the winter, and eight is where he's at now.
