Running around (well, virtually) trying to get quotes for the pool demolition, while listening to sounds of a bunch of people next door destroying the neighbor's pool. The company hasn't checked back with us as to whether we'd accept their bid (given that job coordination sort of seems necessary to do both demos at once, as our neighbor's back yard provides the best access for a Bobcat).
I've got another few possibilities for companies at hand, but of course getting them out here even to do a quote is difficult on short notice. We hadn't been told that the job next door was going to start TODAY. Bleh. I'm a bit happier with the professionalism of some of these others, though. I mean, the worst that could happen if this pool removal is done badly is that our house starts collapsing towards the back yard, right?
When the official(!) quote of the guys working next door says they'll fill the hole with "dirt" and a guy on the phone from a more expensive company volunteers that they'd backfill the hole with "engineered fill", which he explains is a particular standard fill material for such jobs and is PG&E class, one would tend to have more confidence in the latter company, no?
Argh.
